| "And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him." - Mar_3:13Here was sovereignty. Impatient spirits may fret and fume, because they are not called to the highest places in the ministry; but reader be it thine to rejoice that Jesus calleth whom he wills. If he shall leave me to be a doorkeeper in his house, I will cheerfully bless him for his grace in permitting me to do anything in his service. The call of Christ’s servants comes from above. Jesus stands on the mountain, evermore above the world in holiness, earnestness, love and power. Those whom he calls must go up the mountain to him, they must seek to rise to his level by living in constant communion with him. They may not be able to mount to classic honours, or attain scholastic eminence, but they must like Moses go up into the mount of God and have familiar intercourse with the unseen God, or they will never be fitted to proclaim the gospel of peace. Jesus went apart to hold high fellowship with the Father, and we must enter into the same divine companionship if we would bless our fellowmen. No wonder that the apostles were clothed with power when they came down fresh from the mountain where Jesus was. This morning we must endeavour to ascend the mount of communion, that there we may be ordained to the lifework for which we are set apart. Let us not see the face of man to-day till we have seen Jesus. Time spent with him is laid out at blessed interest. We too shall cast out devils and work wonders if we go down into the world girded with that divine energy which Christ alone can give. It is of no use going to the Lord’s battle till we are armed with heavenly weapons. We must see Jesus, this is essential. At the mercy-seat we will linger till he shall manifest himself unto us as he doth not unto the world, and until we can truthfully say, "We were with him in the Holy Mount." David declared the same in Psalm 63:1-2....O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. | | |
| "The desperate need today is NOT for greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people." I believe this with all my heart and would love to see this with flesh on. A group of people who know themselves and are transparent enough to let others see them for who they are, what they can do, and willing to sacrifice all for the furtherance of His Kingdom and glory. It starts of course with the man at this keyboard, and through prayer and faith will become contagious and spread like a wildfire to my fellow believing family. Chris Tomlin sings a song I know we are all familiar with by now called " How great is our God". I love it, sung it as loud as i can last night on my way home from the coffee shop, and cant wait to sing it to Him in the morning again. But, how great is our God??? Greater than what we have seen so far? Greater than the things we have prayed as a ministry? I have to believe the God that makes darkness tremble, the mountains melt like wax, and the earth and heavens to run in fear of His presence can do things through us that we haven't ever thought possible. One of my favorite passages of scripture is in Acts 17 when Paul, Timothy, and Silvanus are in Thessalonica and they have this testimony said about them by a mad and anger group of Jews...vs. 6-"These that have turned the world upside down are come thither also". I want that to be the thing that our community and the lost world accuses us of! Not that we know a lot of Bible, or like each other, or have a good time, but that we are so empowered by God that we have turned the world upside down!!! Man, I hope my tomb can read those words...I have a long way to go. Love you guys, and am praying that my Father is rocking your world even as I speak. | | |
| 11 weeks and fatherhood begins!!! We have been going to birthing classes, and God continues to captivate my attention by how fearfully and wonderfully made we are. It has been the most fascinating experience of my life to this point, to know that all the love I could possibly feel is wrapped up inside my wife's beautiful body. I cant wait to lay my eyes on Luke for the first time, to tell him I love him for the first time, to kiss him for the first time, and to watch over him for the first time and forever. It makes me fall down down in utter worship and praise to think that my Father gave all this to redeem me from my own faults and short comings. With Jeremy Camp I sing "O' what a wonderful Saviour", and why I hold anything back from His amazing hands of love is anyone's guess. I have been reminded so much lately that I am "bought with a price" (I Corinthians 6:19-20) and it is time to live like it and lay it all at His wonderful feet of brass and in front of His face of glory. I love You Jesus...use me and my friends in 640 for your purposes and plans. | | |
| Stephy is home, and we could not be more excited! It feels like she left yesterday, and the ride home was awesome. We picked up right where we left off, and laughed alot! I just experienced the most awesome thing ever at the airport. God's faithful saints coming home and being loved and greeted by their family. It made me think that eternity is going to welcomed in the same way right after that trupmet sounds. Cant wait to see Him, I long for it, pray for it, and cant wait to walk in to His throne room for the first time with all of you guys from 640. It will be my honor to be standing with all of you, and if I had to choose between any of the awesome saints before us (Moses, Elijah, Paul) or to walk into His presence with this ministry... I would choose you in a heartbeat! Thanks for being so awesome last night, it really made my heart skip beat. love all of you! | | |
